Vinted Shoppers Express Frustration Over Size Changes

Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The second-hand shopping app has revised its size classifications for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all users about the change.

Online Platforms Reaction

Countless users and merchants have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.

The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services.

The platform has recommended to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Modifications

Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

A different member, located in Scotland, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she said.

Required Changes

A different user, based in Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".

"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said.

Service Background

The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.

It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
